Para o desfralde não são necessários prémios. Quando a criança consegue o controlo de esfíncteres, o alcance do próprio sucesso é suficiente motivação para a mesma. Se houver "fugas" é normal no processo, e não deve haver castigos.
Respeite a criança e não a obrigue a ficar sentada até que faça as necessidades. É um processo natural, e obviamente que se a senta, acabará por fazer, mas não a terá respeitado, apenas a obrigou.
Alguns sinais que a criança poderá dar quando se sente pronta para o desfralde:
• Interesse pela sanita;
• Diz que fez "cocó/xixi";
• Resiste na altura de colocar e tirar a fralda;
• Fralda seca mais vezes.
